Here we are in the third week of the PGA FedEx Cup playoffs and Sacramento sports fans get to enjoy one of their own playing side by side with the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Sacramento born Nick Watney, by virtue of his stunning head to head win against Sergio Garcia in the first week of the playoffs, finds himself ranked second in the FedEx Cup standings.
McIlroy and Woods are ranked 1st and 3rd respectively, meaning the three of them are playing together for the first two rounds of this weeks BMW Championship.
Watney finished today a respectable 2 under 70. Woods shot 65 and McIlroy carded an 8 under 64 for a share of the first round lead.
The threesome is playing together again tomorrow morning, which is a great opportunity to see how the Dixon native measures up against the best in the world.
Watney is assured a spot in the final FedEx Cup round, the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with 10 million dollars up for grabs.
