The Grant Napear Show - September 12, 2012

With the NBA season just around the corner, Grant began the show with some heavy talk on the Kings and their longevity in Sacramento.

Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports recently wrote an article about Tyreke Evans, so he joined Grant to continue the Kings talk.

Spears talked about the work ethic of Evans this summer, Evans' jump shot, the possibility of the Kings extending Evans' contract, what to expect from Thomas Robinson, the competition in the Pacific Division and whether or not Andrew Bogut and Stephen Curry will be healthy to start the season.

Brian Baldinger of NFL Network came on the show to talk about the upcoming games this week.

Baldinger shared his thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' performance at Lambeau Field, the Baltimore Ravens vs. Philadelphia Eagles game, the Oakland Raiders' mistakes this past Monday, the amazing pass protection that Peyton Manning has in Denver and previewed a few other games.

Former pitcher John Smoltz made his weekly call-in to the show to talk about Major League Baseball.

Smoltz talked about the return of Andy Pettitte to the New York Yankees' rotation, the Cinderella story of the Oakland A's, Brandon McCarthy getting hit by a baseball and times that he's been hit by comeback line drives.

Oakland A's beat writer Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle joined Grant today.

Slusser talked about the recovery of pitcher Brandon McCarthy, the biggest surprises of the team this season, the amount of young players who have made an impact this year, the resiliency of the team, the A's remaining schedule and the team's needs if they're going to make a run in the playoffs.
