Body Found In Back Of Pickup Truck During Traffic Stop In Tracy

TRACY (CBS13) – A California Highway Patrol officer found a dead body in the back of a pickup truck while conducting a traffic stop in Tracy on Wednesday afternoon.

The officer pulled over the truck on E. Highway 132 and S. Welty Road and found the male body in the back in a sleeping bag, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene and the sheriff’s office has taken over the investigation. The two occupants of the pickup were detained for questioning.

Investigators conducted a preliminary examination of the body and found no visible signs of trauma. The case is currently being investigated as a suspicious death pending an autopsy and toxicology results, the sheriff’s office said.

The identification of the deceased is pending the notification to the next of kin. The names of the people in the pickup truck were not released.
