Today Don begins with the telethon that Good Day Sacramento is holding for the hurricane relief fund. Julissa Ortiz from Good Day stops by to broadcast from the studio, and to let the listeners know where to call to donate. We then hear about Don’s phone conversation with his agent, in which a producer from the “Lifetime” Channel is interested in Don’s story about his parents not telling him he and his brother were adopted. Don then tells us that the show will be adding another member next week: our good buddy Drew Hoffar, who was on the show a year ago, will be returning on Monday! The entire crew is stoked to have Drew back!
After checking out a website called boobcritic.com, and watching an ad for a “breastfeeding baby doll,” we get an in studio visit from comedian Felipe Esparza. Felipe, who is performing at the Punchline in Sac all this weekend, talks about his days on “Last Comic Standing,” the comedians who have helped him out, meeting Rodney Dangerfield, and even does an intro for Phantom News! After Felipe, the guys look at BiPolar Mary’s Twitter page, which has gone berserk, and Don goes to loyal listener Paul on the phone, who’s been calling throughout the show to tell us about his work truck hanging from a cliff in Calistoga.
After hearing a few clips of Pat Robertson and Lark Voorhies – both sounding crazy, the guys play another round of “Shock Collar Trivia,” And we get a visit from FOX broadcaster Chris Myers. Chris, who is calling the Niners/Rams game on Sunday, talks about how much he loves announcing, gives his takes on Denver, Houston, San Francisco, and Chicago, and tells us who he thinks is going to win the NASCAR Championship. We then get a visit from Matt and Nate Wiggles, the former KHTK promotions guys. Matt and Nate, who still work for CBS Radio, but in different departments, decide to relive the good old days, and bring in passes for Disneyland for Don to give away next week!
It’s then time for the “Phantom News Hour.” Today, Phantom tells us about the passing of Frank Peppiatt, co-creator of “Hee Haw,” at the age of 85, Roseanne getting 8,000 votes in Florida, 75 minutes of working out a week will add 2 years to your life, and one third of men can’t see their junk when they stand up. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
