Roseville’s Kim Welch succeeded in earning her LPGA tour card this week, no small feat for the traveling 29-year-old pro golfer.
Welch is best known for winning the Golf Channel’s “Big Break: Ka’anapali” competition a few years ago. She has spent the last few years on the LPGA Futures tour and the Ladies European Tour, traveling the world.
Kim has a devastatingly long drive but she secured her tour card with her putter, dropping lengthy putts on the final two qualifying holes. With her tour card, she’ll be able to set her 2013 schedule.
For more information, there’s and excellent article by Steve Pajak in the Sacramento Bee.
Congratulations to Kim Welch, an honor well earned.
