Sacramento Police Searching For Witnesses In Fatal Hit And Run

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding the driver in a fatal hit and run early Wednesday morning.

Officers and paramedics responded to reports of a unresponsive person in the 59000 block of Valley Hi Drive around 7:06 am Wednesday. They found a black male adult near the east side of the roadway. The victim, identified as 29-year-old David Tyrell Mickens, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe a vehicle traveling eastbound on Valley Hi Drive when it hit Mickens early in the morning. They found parts of a broken headlamp and turn signal at the scene but could not find any witnesses.

Anyone with information about the hit and run or a vehicle with damage to its right side headlamp and turn signal is asked to contact Detective Doug Tracy at (916) 808-6030 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
