UPDATED: Police Arrest Bay Area Parolee Fleeing In West Sacramento

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man in a stolen vehicle ran from police on foot in West Sacramento Friday afternoon.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old Bay Area parolee after searching a neighborhood in the area of Harbor Boulevard and Evergreen Avenue.

The suspect was driving a minivan reported stolen out of San Francisco. California Highway Patrol officers were following the minivan when the driver pulled over on his own on Harbor and took off running. The minivan was towed away from the scene around 4 p.m.

CHP and West Sacramento police officers searched homes in the area with help from K9 units and a helicopter. Police found the suspect's abandoned backpack in the yard of a home around 4:20 p.m., and found the man shortly thereafter.

The suspect's identity has not been released at this time.
