SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A man is in the hospital after crashing his car into a pole in Sacramento Friday morning.

Police say the driver hit a pole and took out a transformer on Howe Avenue and American River Drive.

The driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Power was knocked out to the traffic light. SMUD says crews will repair the pole Friday morning.

In a separate incident, a car smashed into a phone pole on Jahaunt and Lower Sacramento Roads in Lodi, causing a utility pole to fall and draping lines across the roadway.

The extent of the driver’s injuries are unknown.
