Another Sacramento Area Restaurant Robbed; This One In Broad Daylight

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Another Sacramento area restaurant was hit by robbers Monday, this time in broad daylight, and investigators think the crimes could be connected.

It's a terrifying crime, you can't see coming - robbers armed with guns ordering employees and customers to the ground

"Just get on the ground. Get on the ground don't move."

That's what Everardo Rios heard Monday working at Adalberto's Mexican restaurant on Watt Avenue in North Highlands.

"All of sudden I just saw three guys with guns pointing to us," he said.

The men, wearing ski masks, would pistol whip two employees and steal cash and personal items including jewelry and wallets.

"I just work here. I'm a cook, and that's it," Rios said.

The crime bears a striking similarity to other cases all over the valley, mainly at eateries.

Late Saturday, the exact same thing happened at a Pete's Pizza in Natomas, and last week at a Citrus Heights Thai restaurant, putting fear into customers.

"Can't even go out and have a family dinner anymore," one resident said.

Sheriff's investigators say these crimes could be connected and possibly even linked to a takeover robbery at an urgent care clinic in south Sacramento that was caught on tape.

"On the surface there are some similarities that are very concerning to us, very alarming to us," Sgt. Jason Ramos said.

Investigators hope that they're stopped before there are more or things turn deadly.

"You never know what trigger will take it to the next level where one of these suspects may actually use a firearm," Ramos said.
