SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Kings fans are anxious for news of a possible deal to keep the Kings in Sacramento, but they’ll have to wait, according to the mayor’s spokesperson.

At his weekly press conference last Tuesday Mayor Kevin Johnson revealed new developments on the city’s effort to keep the Kings in Sacramento, but didn’t say whose money will back the deal.

Mayor Johnson today is expected to provide an update on the city’s effort to keep the Kings, but says he won’t be making any major announcements about a plan from major investors or so-called “whales,” according Ben Sosenko, the mayor’s spokesperson.

The mayor will fly to the NBA All-Star Game in Houston this week where he says he will lobby NBA owners to keep the Kings in Sacramento.
