Bay Bridge Celebration – Labor Day Weekend 2013

Come celebrate the opening of The New Bay Bridge — the single largest public infrastructure project in California’s history.

California has completed a 20-year effort to retrofit bridges throughout the state, and the opening of The New Bay Bridge is the final and largest project of all!

Join thousands from all over the Bay Area for this historic event, and who knows, you may even get the chance to see the magnificent tower up close.

Here’s what will happen over Labor Day weekend:

· Closure of the Bridge on Wed. 8/28 after the evening commute

· Five days of construction activity 8/29-9/2

· Overlapping the final two days of construction, events on Sun. 9/1 and Mon. 9/2 to celebrate the opening including a Bridge Bike Ride, Run & Walk. (Other events including a fireworks display and celebration concert on Treasure Island are under consideration.)

· Opening of the new Bridge to regular traffic early Tuesday 9/3
