SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Celebrities, activists, designers, scientists and an athlete made up the seventh class inducted into the California Hall of Fame at the California Museum in downtown Sacramento Wednesday.

Four-time Super Bowl champion Joe Montana was the focus of the evening in his suit and tie.

“When you look at co-recipients, I’m not used to being in that kind of group,” Montana said of his fellow inductees.

Before the ceremony, Montana stopped to sign some autographs for fans.

“I’m honored people still appreciate what we (49ers) were able to accomplish,” said Montana.

He was proud to be among a group of inductees that included social activist Dolores Huerta, co-founder of United Farm Workers of America.

“I want to dedicate this one to women,” said Huerta.

Huerta even gave a shout out to her hometown.

“I know Stockton’s had a bad rap, but I think it has a good future,” she said.

Warren Beatty, star of Dick Tracy and a 15-time Academy Award nominee, seemed more impressed by the media’s turnout.

“It’s very flattering, very, very flattering,” he said.

Gov. Jerry Brown presented posthumous awards to the Warner Brothers, Ishi, who is known as the last wild Indian, anthropologist George Bateson and furniture designers Charles and Ray Eames.

“Their empire builders, empires of imagination and dreams,” said Gov. Brown.

When asked if Montana would join the likes of a few fellow inductees and leap into politics, the retired quarterback was quick with a reply.

“I’ve been hit in the head a lot but not that many times,” he said.

The California Hall of Fame exhibit will be on display at the California Museum beginning Thursday.
