Sacramento Photographer Arrested For Allegedly Distributing Child Porn Online

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A local photographer has been arrested for distributing child pornography on the internet, federal investigators say; but one former neighbor says it's no surprise.

"You get a bad vibe just being around him," Dennis Ware said of his former neighbor.

Joseph Cantrelle, 62, is accused of distributing pictures of young children being sexually abused.

On his Facebook page, CBS13 found what appear to be numerous professional pictures taken of children. However, federal investigators won't say if he took the pictures or if any of the children were being sexually exploited.

"That's the reason I don't like him," said Ware.

He says Cantrelle was his next door neighbor for several years and confronted him after learning the photographer was allegedly targeting his 15-year-old daughter.

"I found on my daughter's cell phone recordings of him calling her in the middle of the night," said Ware.

So, he and his wife told Cantrelle to stay away from their daughter.

"Yeah, we put a stop to it," said Ware.

There are a lot of children on Ware's street.

"That's kind of a shock because there's a high school nearby," neighbor Kayla Christensen said.

Ware says Cantrelle moved out of his neighborhood about a year ago.

"That's pretty much the last time we talked to him," he said.

"I'm glad he's not here anymore. At least, that's something that's taken care of," said Christensen.

Cantrelle is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Jail.
