Home Invasion Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Holding Couple At Gunpoint

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A south Sacramento couple says they were terrorized at gunpoint, held up in their own home.

The couple says it all started when they were sitting on the couch watching TV and heard a knock on the door.

"We didn't answer because it's 1 a.m.," said Luke Cassick.

Investigators say 28-year-old Manuel Looney was determined to get into Cassick and Chelsea Espinoza's home.

"I didn't know what to think," said Cassick.

The couple refused to answer, but Looney apparently didn't give up.

"We're sitting there and he knocks on the window," said Cassick.

Then a violent scene quickly erupted.

"All of a sudden, I just started hearing him kicking the door in," said Espinoza.

They say Looney walked into their home, armed with a hand gun and making demands.

"Whatever he wanted, I just complied with him," said Cassick. "He just had a gun in my face demanding everything."

Scared, Espinoza ran down the hall and into a bedroom to hide.

"I guess he saw me in the bedroom and he demanded for me to come out," said Espinoza. "You don't second guess a gun when it's pointed at your face."

They were forced to the floor.

"He started yelling 'where's your money? Where's your money? Where's your keys? Give me your car keys,' " said Espinoza.

They say he then stole their car and fled.

"The second we heard him drive off in the car, we called 911," said Espinoza.

Looney was arrested a few blocks away, but the couple's car was smashed up.

Investigators say this was one of two robberies committed that night by Looney. He allegedly robbed a Quik Stop on Fruitridge Road.

The couple is still shaken after facing incident. Espinoza even worried she could have lost her life.

Looney is behind bars at Sacramento County Jail and is facing robbery and stolen vehicle charges.

The couple hopes to move to another neighbor soon.
