Children Rescued From Second-Story Window During Oak Park Standoff

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police had to go up a ladder to rescue kids from a Sacramento home during a police standoff on Thursday.

Police were called out to a home on 9th Avenue and Pansy Court on reports that a man had assaulted one of his family members at the home. He reportedly then armed himself with a knife and refused officers’ requests to come out.

Police used a ladder to get children and other family members out of a second-story window.

The man surrendered just as the police SWAT team arrived.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
