Lincoln Couple Recreates World Travels In Backyard

LINCOLN (CBS13) — A Lincoln couple has decided to forgo their keepsakes from their world travels, instead turning their memories into a keep-estate.

The travels of John Poswall and his wife, Peg, are on display in their backyard, from a zen Chinese garden to a tranquil Tuscany water fountain, to a cozy arched pergola, to a stonehenge look-alike.

The retired author rips a page from his global adventure inspirations, bringing his photographic memories to life through love and perspiration.

"For instance, we had to go to China, to be in the garden to experience the garden to bring back that feeling," John said.

The couple let the land dictate the design.

"I really make access to what's here naturally," John said.

The nearly 20 gardens are a real-life storybook of his 8 trips abroad. Over 50 acres of land nestled in the rural hills of Lincoln, where the Poswalls can relive their globetrotting adventures outside their backdoor.

"We are both thankful. We look around and we say we can't believe we have this," John said.

From the rose garden to where they were married, to a nearly identical Chinese walkway, there will always be some hidden path waiting to be discovered.
