English Premier League Team Playing in Sacramento on July 18

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — An English Premier League club will play in Sacramento for the first time as part of Pro Soccer Day.

The July 18 match will pit Norwich City against Mexican club Dorados de Sinaloa at Raley Field.

Some local all-stars will also take the field against a group of reserves from Major League Soccer.

With tens of thousands of children in the area playing the sport, the matches are a perfect fit to raise awareness of Sacramento's love for soccer.

"To get them used to coming out to soccer matches, ultimately long term, we want to make the case to MLS that this is a town worthy of a franchise," Sac Pro Soccer president Warren Smith said.

Tickets are on sale at the Raley Field box office, or through Ticketmaster.
