Natomas Rose Garden Fountain Vandalized

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A piece of public property built to bring piece and tranquility to visitors was damaged in a case of senseless vandalism overnight.

Vandals damaged the pump, stone masonry and electrical system of the fountain at the Natomas Rose Garden, according to garden volunteer coordinator Marni Ledger. Damage to the electrical components alone is estimated at $3,000-$5,000.

The fountain, which is located next to the South Natomas Library on 2912 Truxel Road, was built by volunteers and was scheduled to be dedicated on June 30.

Volunteers plan to repair the fountain.

Photographer Jeremiah McWright shot a picture of the fountain about a month ago.
