Stockton Mayor On Defensive Against Anonymous Email Accusations

STOCKTON (CBS13) — Anthony Silva says allegations of sexual battery and secret videotaping are a distraction designed to get the Stockton mayor kicked out of office.

"It's not true, nothing," he said. "None of the allegations that have been brought forth are true."

Silva blames a political battle for a recent, anonymous mass email highlighting past criminal investigations.

While Silva contends he was never questioned in any of the matters, the Stockton Police Department has said he was interviewed.

A Stockton Unified School District report details an investigation into claims he secretly videotaped teens changing in his bathroom back in 2004.

Also, Stockton Police officers took a report from a 19-year-old who told officers Silva pulled her across his lap and spanked her backside. The teen used to work at the Boys & Girls Club as a lifeguard.

Both police reports were filed before Silva was sworn-in as mayor and charges were not filed in either incident.

Silva believes his plans to spark change in the city haven't been received well by others and they want him gone.

"The timing of these attacks have been orchestrated to come now," he said. "This is the time where people put petitions to potentially recall a new mayor."

He has an idea who might be behind the scathing email that questions his character.
