Police Search For 2 Suspects In Natomas Homicide Of Out Of Towner

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The search is on for two murder suspects after a man was shot and killed in Natomas overnight.

The West View Ranch Apartments on Bankside Way were rocked by gun fire; and for one neighbor, who lives across the street, it hit way too close to home.

"Are we back in L.A.? Where do we move now," said neighbor Lindsey Ladd.

Ladd and her family moved to Natomas from Los Angeles to get away from the violence.

"So we could have a better quality of life and to be able to live in a house versus an apartment out there," said Ladd.

When she backed out of her driveway for work Wednesday morning, she noticed crime tape and a heavy police presence.

"It's scary cause I go running in this area. My kids go to school on the corner; it's freaky," said Ladd. "We never hear anything like that in this community."

Sacramento police say just after 2 a.m. a man in his 30s -- not from this area -- was walking through the complex when he was approached by an unknown person or persons. That's when the sound of gun fire could be heard by residents.

"We're outside all the time. Usually we just drive into our driveway, but we never see anyone walking around. Everyone's either jogging to their house or walking their dogs," said Ladd.

Police are still looking for whoever did this, and say the victim did know people in the area.

"It's pretty quite considering there is an apartment right across the way from us," said Ladd.

Police do not have any suspect or vehicle descriptions at this time.

The Sacramento Police Department is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.
