No Supreme Court Decision Monday On Proposition 8, Defense Of Marriage Act

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - We won't find out today if same-sex marriages will be allowed again in California.

The US Supreme Court is handing down rulings on several high profile cases today, but Proposition 8 is not one of them.

In 2008, California voters approved the proposition, which bans same-sex marriage. The supreme court must decide whether it and the marriage act are constitutional.

Right now, only Connecticut and Massachusetts recognize same-sex marriage.

Twelve states and the District of Columbia allow or will soon allow gay marriage.
