Police Calling Possible Natomas Drowning Suspicious

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Homicide detectives are investigating a possible drowning in Natomas.

Sacramento police tell CBS13 the victim's family found the man in a drainage pond yesterday evening on Truxel Road and Terracina Drive.

Emergency crews tried to pull the man to shore, but it was too late. The man was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

His family says they went to visit him while he was supposed to be fishing with a friend, but the friend wasn't there.

"When we got here there were no witnesses. So we're trying to figure out what transpired and what led up to this young man becoming injured and eventually dying inside the pond," said police department spokesperson Doug Morse.

Investigators say there are no obvious signs of trauma, but are calling the death suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing.
