CHP: Pedestrian Killed Attempting To Cross I-80

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A pedestrian is dead after being struck by several vehicles while attempting to cross Interstate 80 Thursday morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by three vehicles around 5 a.m. He was in the process of crossing the freeway near Truxel Road.

The victim was directly in front of the Kia that hit him. California Highway Patrol says the victim was wearing dark clothing and was not visible to the 51-year-old driver.

As a result, the man thrown onto the roadway and was struck by a Dodge Ram truck and a 2003 Chevy truck.

The victim's identity will not be released until his next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing, but it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
