Dozens of Unlicensed Contractors Busted In Statewide Sting
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Nearly 80 unlicensed contractors were busted in a statewide sting by the Contractors State Licensing Board.
As the economy improves, more people may be investing in their homes. But you have to be careful who you let inside.
In this sting, a suspect is caught red-handed breaking the law. In this case though, he was chatting with an undercover officer and was arrested.
Over a two-day period, the board held stings statewide, arresting 79 people for being unlicensed—11 in Sacramento alone.
Investigators say they caught an attempted murderer, a sex offender and people with drugs among the contractors—a risk you run with someone unlicensed.
A licensed contractor must pass a criminal background check, have training, pass exams and put up bond money you can tap into in case something goes wrong.
