Suspect Arrested In July Arden Fair Mall Shooting

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento police have made an arrest in connection to an afternoon shooting that left bullet holes in several cars at Arden Fair Mall.

John Montanez, 23, was arrested for attempted homicide in connection with the July 31 shooting, which happened just before 3:30 p.m. in the parking garage near Macy's.

Police say two men were involved in some disagreement with another group of three men, upon whom Montanez opened fire. However, no one was injured.

The suspects fled through a department store and made their way to a parked car, fleeing the area.

Investigators quickly located the getaway vehicle, and identified Montanez as the shooting suspect the same day.

He was arrested Wednesday.

Investigators are still trying to establish a specific motive.
