1 Person Dead After Plane Crashes Near Chico
CHICO (CBS13) - One person died when a plane crashed near Chico, according KHSL-TV in Chico.
At around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, the plane crashed just south of Chico, causing a grass fire, according to a Butte County CAL FIRE spokesperson. The fire had burned about 15 acres of grass and brush. At least one hand crew, several engines, a bulldozer and several aircraft attempted to contain the flames, the CBS affiliate reported.
FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor says they haven't received any calls about a missing aircraft. The plane N-number and data tag are still unknown.
The plane was not scheduled to land at Chico Municipal Airport, according to the airport's air traffic control tower.
