Twin Rivers Business Administrator Abruptly Resigns, Collecting $174,570.60 Salary

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The associate superintendent of business services abruptly resigned from the Twin Rivers Unified School District.

It took less than 10 seconds for the board to announce Rob Ball's resignation. It took a lot longer to get anyone to talk about it.

This is the same Twin Rivers district embroiled in a pension controversy. And the same one with police force issues. And the same one that was the subject of a grand jury investigation.

We wanted to know the conditions of the buyout for a man who has been with the district since its beginning five years ago—a district critics say has made some questionable financial decisions in the past.

"I don't have that information right now, but if you want to call back tomorrow."

Waiting until Friday wasn't a good answer, so I respectfully persisted, asking other board members.

"We'll get an attorney, OK?"

No attorney was made available what we were given a press release with basic information.

After pressing on the issue, we were then handed a second release with a line added stating, "Mr. Ball will receive the equivalent of the remainder of his contract salary for the year, $174,570.60.

We then tracked down board member John Dexter.

"He resigned, that's what it is, voluntary resignation," he said, later adding "This is a legal contract … anytime somebody leaves, there's buyouts."

Rob Ball couldn't be reached for comment on Thursday.

The district also wouldn't say who might replace him, or how much more they will spend on that person's salary.
