Rainfall Expected To Continue In Valley, Foothills And Sierra

Morning temperatures were a little on the warmer side Monday due to cloud cover. We will see sunshine, but for the most part, it will be cloudy in the valley.

A persistent band of locally heavy rainfall has developed over portions of the motherlode and higher terrain of the Sierra Nevada, according to the National Weather Service. This band of rainfall is expected to continue through the afternoon and possibly into this evening. Isolated thunderstorms could produce brief but heavy rainfall and local flooding.

The area of concern extends from Auburn northeastward to Alta Sierra, Grass Valley and Nevada City and continuing to
Downieville. Locally heavy rain over an inch and a half has been reported around Nevada City and Bowman Lake as of Monday morning.

Travel along Highways 49 and 20 in these areas may be affected by heavy rain at times.
