Prosecutors: Davis Teen Looking For Someone To Kill Before Eviscerating Elderly Couple

DAVIS (CBS13) — Horrific details emerged in the murder of an elderly Davis couple as prosecutors say the 16-year-old suspect has confessed in disturbing detail.

During a preliminary hearing, investigators testified they not only had a detailed confession of stabbing each victim dozens of times, but they say he admitted he had thought about killing people since he was 10.

Daniel Marsh is accused of stabbing 87-year-old Chip Northup and his wife, 76-year-old Claudia Maupin in their home.

Friday was a chance for prosecutors to prove to the court they had a good case against Marsh and enough evidence to go to trial.

One investigator testified that during an interrogation, Marsh confessed to the brutal crime, allegedly telling investigators he wandered around the Davis neighborhood looking for someone to kill.

The detective testified Marsh described how he broke through a window of the couple's home, went in, and stabbed them repeatedly. From there, the detective described how Marsh confessed to mutilating the victims' bodies.

Once learning of the horrific details, members of both of the victims' families wept in court. Obviously shaken, they had no comment after the proceedings.

Marsh will be held in custody. He is being tried as an adult.
