Davis Mother Accused Of Murder After 5-Year-Old Girl Found In Trunk in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The mother of a 5-year-old child has been arrested after the girl was found in the trunk of her mother's car.

The girl died on her way to the hospital.

Aquelin Talamantes, 29, of Davis is accused of murder in the case and will be booked into the Yolo County Jail.

Sacramento Police were alerted by relatives of Talamantes when she arrived at a family member's Sacramento apartment on Pocket Road without her daughter.

Officers contacted Talamantes and searched the trunk of her car where they found the 5-year-old unresponsive in her trunk.

"That child was in need of immediate emergency medical assistance," said Sacramento Police Officer Doug Morse.

Attempts were made to resuscitate her, and she was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the investigation showed whatever happened to her daughter originated at Talamantes' Davis apartment on Glide Avenue.

"It's so sad, it's just horrible. I just can't imagine even thinking of anybody even thinking of doing that," said Rebecca Sewell, who lives near the family member's apartment.
