'Tikker' Watch Counts Down Wearer's Life Expectancy

LOS ANGELES (CBS Sacramento) - In an effort to encourage people to pursue their dreams and live their lives to the fullest, Fredrik Colting has created the Tikker watch, which counts down the years, months and even seconds remaining until the wearer's death.

"While death is nonnegotiable, life isn't. The good news is that life is what you make of it – and it can be beautiful!" the official Tikker website notes. "T[hat's why we've created] Tikker, the death watch that counts down your life, just so you can make every second count."

Colting added to Mashable, "I think we can have a better life, and make better choices, if we are more aware of our upcoming expiration. It gives us perspective — the little stuff suddenly doesn't seem so important anymore. That's why I see Tikker as a happiness watch."

A press release offered on the Tikker site explains that interested parties need only fill out a survey, then deduct their present age from the results. At that point, the Tikker begins its countdown to the owner's dying day.

The company is presently sold out of Tikker watches, its website indicates, and retails for $59.

Its creation was originally funded by a Kickstarter project that will expire in November. The project is still offering pledges of $39 a Tikker watch that will ship in April.
