1 Person Shot And Killed In Midtown; Police Detain 2 People For Questioning

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened in midtown overnight.

The shooting happened at around 1:30 a.m. at Capitol Manor Apartments, which are at 1701 O Street.

Police received a 911 call from someone who said they heard screaming. When police arrived at the apartments they found a man inside one of the units with a gunshot wound. He was declared dead.

Police took two people away in handcuffs for questioning.

Some nearby residents say this area of midtown, especially this apartment building, has had some issues recently. But one neighbor says despite the shooting he still feels safe.

"A little on edge. I've been living here for quite a few years and you see things every once in a while happening…St. Patrick's day, there was a kid who was stabbed over here, but other than that I feel pretty safe here," said Randall Freese, a midtown resident.

Officers have not released the identity of the victim, but say he's in his 30s. They say the shooting does not appear to be a random and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
