Expect a cooler and breezier Wednesday as a low pressure system rolls over the region and gives some higher elevations a taste of winter.
We could also possibly see a thunderstorm south of Sacramento in the afternoon. However, the storm is moving fast and will out of the area by the evening.
There was little rain and even some snowfall in the Sierra Wednesday morning. We could see a couple inches above 5,500 feet, over Interstate 80, Thursday morning and into the early afternoon. However, the later into the day, the less snow showers are expected.
The bulk of the snow will be south of Highway 50 in the higher elevations of the Sierra, where a winter weather advisory is posted for 1 to 4 inches of snow.
Rain is mainly expected in the foothills, with a slight chance some will creep down into Sacramento.
As the system moves out, clear skies and below normal temperatures in the 70s will end the work week.
