Nike Marathon Phone Mix-Up Had People Calling Sex Line Instead

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS13) - It's an embarrassing marathon mix-up. Neighbors calling to complain about noise from the Nike Women's Marathon over the weekend ended up connecting to another number altogether.

Instead of getting the Nike consumer complaint line, they got a phone sex line.

The race in San Francisco started at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, but the party started at 5:30 with announcements on the loudspeaker and loud music.

A few neighbors came out on their balconies in bathrobes to complain about the ruckus, while others picked up the phone. They dialed the city's 3-1-1 line to complain and were told to call Nike at 1-800-run-nike. However, the right number is 1-866-run-nike. The two-digit mistake sent people to the steamy sex line.

It's not clear how the city called the wrong number. We called San Francisco's 3-1-1 tonight to find out, but the person we spoke with was not aware of the mix-up.
