High Winds Knock Over Big Rigs On Highway

TRACY, Calif. (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says high winds knocked over six big rigs on a stretch of Northern California highway.

The crashes on Interstate 580 around the San Joaquin County city of Tracy began around 6 p.m. Sunday and continued until about 5 a.m. Monday.

CHP Officer Juan Cruz says two drivers suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Elsewhere in the region, KGO-TV reports that wind knocked the facade off a Forever 21 store in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Emeryville. No one was hurt, but two vehicles were damaged.

The National Weather Service is warning of high winds through midday Monday, with gusts of up to 35 mph possible along the coast and at higher elevations.
