Community Banding Together To Help Sole Survivor Of Deadly Lodi Crash
LODI (CBS13) — A community is banding together for the sole survivor of a violent accident that left six of his family members dead in Lodi.
Businesses are stepping up and trying to raise money for Eden Miranda, 9.
The phones were busy at Rick's Pizza, where they planned to donate 25 percent of their sales on Tuesday to help support Eden.
"It makes me feel like I'm contributing to something to the family," said customer Rachel Smith. "I didn't know them, but a whole family died. That's the saddest part."
According to the Facebook page Lodi Strong, the community has raised at least $12,000 and more help is on the way.
House of Coffees is one of three places where people can drop off donations for an upcoming city-wide yard sale on Saturday.
The outpouring of support is already surpassing expectations with two trucks picking up donations daily.
"As much as we'd all like to, we can't undo it," said Jennifer Phillips with House of Coffees. "What we can do is come together as a community, and get through this and help the family."
