Memorial Held For Stockton Triple Homicide Victims Killed While Sleeping

STOCKTON (CBS13) - A Stockton family murdered as they slept in their own home was remembered Sunday night.

Neighbors say a 6-year-old boy was inside the home and was the one who found help.

Several dozen family members gathered at the S. Laurel Street home for a tearful memorial, filling up the street. They spoke to CBS13 in hopes someone with any information will come forward.

"There's 11 kids and they are all destroyed, hurt," said Christina Guerra, a spokesperson for the family.

The children of Olivia and Fidel Ruiz cried out as they knelt to the ground in front of their parent's home. Other family members gathered around them, holding on to each other.

"I can't describe the words to say the good people they were. They didn't deserve to die like this, because they didn't have problems. They live in peace and they didn't deserve this death," said Guerra.

The couple in their 50s was killed Friday night along with one of their sons, Manuel, in what is now being described as a violent home invasion.

Investigators say two men entered the couple's home and shot five family members inside -- some as they slept in their beds.

"They were sleeping when they murdered them. So she didn't even have the chance to react," neighbor Briza Martinez said.

Manuel is the father of the 6-year-old boy who escaped and ran to a neighbor's house for help.

"I used to drink my coffee, everyday, with her; and, now I can't even eat. It's hard. I can't even look at her house because it's horrible," said Martinez.

Investigators still have no motive and no suspects.

Family members say they are planning to be at the home everyday to say prayers, hoping someone will come forward to help police and help the family find a small sense of peace.

"They took a wonderful woman that didn't have anything to do with it. She loved all her kids and it wasn't her fault. Whatever they were looking for, it wasn't her fault and now she's gone," said Martinez.

The family says the two relatives who were hurt in the shooting are still in stable condition at the hospital.

The 6-year-old boy is now in the care of family.

Police say the suspects left in a small black truck.
