Alleged Marysville Thief Swallows Ring After Jewelry Store Worker Catches Him In The Act

MARYSVILLE (CBS13) — A jewelry store is waiting to get a ring back from a suspect who allegedly swallowed it.

The owner of the Diamond Palace in Marysville says she was working on windows when she walked inside the store to a lot of commotion.

"He was saying, 'I don't have the ring,' and she was saying, 'Yes, it's in your right pocket,'" said Robin Kellison.

The alleged thief was caught in the act and Kellison's employee was demanding he cough up the ring.

"He started taking off out the store, and without thinking, I tripped him," she said.

The suspect and Kellison wrestled on the floor, but then:

"Who thinks someone is going to swallow a ring?" she said.

Now, that suspect is accused of hiding the evidence—a men's ring worth $200 to $300.

This created a stinky situation at the jail, as the store was called every time the suspect used the restroom. The water was shut off to the toilet so he couldn't flush the evidence.

"I just figured if it comes out, it comes out," Kellison said.

If the ring ever emerges, Kellison says she has no plans to put it back in the case and sell it, for obvious reasons.
