Batkid's Suit Came From Carmichael Boy's Generous Gift Of Halloween Costume Dad Made

NATOMAS (CBS13) — Batkid's taken the world by storm, and the story of his suit has its roots in Natomas with the man who made it and the boy who donated it.

John Conye and his son James know everything there is to know about Batman.

James as seen all the moves and has all the action figures. His Batman Halloween costume his dad made was nothing short of spectacular.

That Batsuit is the same one that's been seen around the world.

"Friend of mine posted on my Facebook page the link to the Make-A-Wish Foundation For Miles, and suggested we take a road trip.

John told his 7-year-old son about Miles, the 5-year-old suffering from Leukemia who dreamed of being a superhero for a day.

James helped make it happen, telling his dad to give Miles his costume.

"So he could pretend to be Batman," James said. "I made his day better."

And not just to borrow, but to keep.

For a father, the pride is hard to put into words.

"You wanna make your kid a better person than you, and you know, he already is," Conye said.

On a larger-than-life day celebrated by millions around the globe, it's a reminder that superheroes come in all shapes, sizes and ages.

"I would say I hope you feel better," James said. "LIke, be even better than Batman."

In  the 30 years the Sacramento Make-A-Wish has been open, they've had fewer busier days than this.

Thanks to the Batkid craze, the phones rang off the hook with people wanting to volunteer or donate to make more kids' wishes come true.
