Young Boy Sent To Hospital In Alleged Fairfield Family Stabbing

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — A young boy was sent to the hospital with critical injuries after neighbors say a woman in the home was taken away in handcuffs.

Police say it started as a domestic disturbance. Investigators say a family member grabbed a knife, stabbing a man and a child. Fairfield Police say that family fight would end with a boy lying in the street with critical injuries.

Danielle Rhodes was just next door when she discovered the chaotic scene with the young boy collapsing in front of her car.

"He was unconscious, like he wasn't breathing," she said. "I couldn't see him breathing or anything."

First responders would rush the child by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

"Anytime we respond to any domestic disturbance, involving families, especially kids, it's rough," said Sgt. Rob Lenke. "It's very early on in the investigation."

Police say the man who was stabbed only suffered minor injuries.
