High Winds Close Yosemite Campgrounds Through Saturday Morning

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBS13) — High winds have forced the closure of campgrounds at Yosemite National Park, though the park will remain open.

The National Park Service announced on Thursday that the campgrounds would be closed between 7 p.m. on Thursday and 4 a.m. on Saturday because of high winds following a recent storm.

It's been a tough year for the park and surrounding businesses. The Rim Fire, the third-largest wildfire in the state's history burned through the prime Labor Day weekend.

October's federal government shutdown also kept the park closed for two weeks.
