Photographer Helps Newlyweds Recreate Wedding Photos After Walgreens Lost Them

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Sacramento newlywed couple was devastated when their wedding photos were lost, so one photographer stepped in to help recreate some of the lost moments.

Howard and Pam Welder couldn't afford a wedding photographer and had their wedding photos developed at Walgreens. When they went to pick the photos up, a whole set was missing.

Pam was beside herself because she says she doesn't have much time left with her dying husband.

It's a photo the two didn't have of their special day -- a kiss uniting them as husband and wife.

Mike Hall owns Lasting Image Studios and wanted to help the two out.

"Able to help, you know, make some lasting memories," he said.

Hall saw the story of their missing wedding pictures on CBS13.

Howard barely made it through the ceremony because he has trouble standing. It's another reason Pam says the pictures are so priceless.

"I finally found the love of my life and now I'm going to lose him soon," she said.

Howard has several serious medical problems.

Married just a week ago, a friend took the couple's pictures on a film camera. But of the two rolls they sent to a one-hour photo lab to be developed, one went missing.

"Pretty horrible thing to have happen, half of your wedding photos disappear," said Hall.

"How blessed we were to have someone care enough to want to do that for us," said Pam.

Now, a stranger reached out to re-create a moment they thought was gone for good.

"She started crying and I said 'what's a matter now?' And, she said 'we're going to have real nice pictures,' " said Howard.

Pam says she doesn't know how long she has left with her husband and that makes these pictures even more important.

"It means a lot because I'll have those pictures forever, even after he's not around anymore," she said.

Picking out the photos, Hall will print them out for the newlyweds.

"I don't know how to repay him," said Howard.

After we called Walgreens about the missing photos, the store eventually tracked them down and gave them back to the couple.

However, Pam and Howard say they don't compare to the professional pictures they had done, thanks to Hall.
