Chill Is On Across Northern California As Temperatures Drop Below Freezing

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A cold storm system out of Canada made its way into Northern California Tuesday, ushering in days of low temperatures at or below the freezing point.

A Freeze Watch is in effect overnight as low temperatures will dip to 31 degrees in the valley by early Wednesday. Highs temperatures Wednesday afternoon will struggle to make it into the low 50s.

A Hard Freeze Watch is in effect Thursday and Friday mornings for low temperatures plummeting into the 20s. Afternoon highs will only be in the upper 40s both of these days, about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.

Another weak system will push in late Friday into Saturday, bringing a slight chance of valley rain – but more likely snow for the foothills and Sierra.

Low temperatures are expected to be at or below freezing 7 of the next 9 days.
