Suspicious PVC Pipe Prompts Evacuation of Folsom Lake College During Finals

PLACERVILLE (CBS13) — Students were evacuated from Folsom Lake College on Monday after a janitor discovered what he a suspicious device attached to the fitness center.

The device ended up being a 4-inch piece of PVC pipe taped to the building.

Sheriff's deputies treated the threat seriously and brought in the bomb squad while evacuating students during finals week.

Student Sarah Tanner walked up to the scene and was surprised that something like this was happening at her small campus.

"Especially not in Placerville," she said. "It's a smaller community, I wouldn't think that."

Students were alerted through text messages and a message on the school's Facebook page.

After all the chaos and confusion, classes ended up continuing as planned, meaning finals were still on.
