Folsom Cordova School District Offers Smartphone App For Parents To Stay Up To Date

FOLSOM (CBS13) — Parents in the Folsom Cordova School District can stay in the loop with their children's schools with a smartphone app.

The app allows parents and students to check grades in real time, as well as school news and lunch schedules.

The district surveyed more than 4,000 people and found more than 77 percent of those surveyed wanted an app.

"I look at this as a new evolution in school communicatoin, because our parents are becoming more and more demanding when it comes to connectivity," said district spokesman Stephen Nichols.

The district hopes it will be an easy way to get out information under any circumstance, including emergencies.

"Many of our families, especially those where income levels are at the poverty line, they do not have Internet access at home, but they have a smartphone," Nichols said. "We're find this is a great tool to keep in touch with all families."

The app is free and is available for both Apple and Android products.
