South Sacramento Residents Wonder How The Grinch Slashed Tires On 60 Vehicles

SOUTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Dozens of people in a south Sacramento neighborhood awoke on Christmas morning to find their tires slashed.

Chao Vang didn't know someone had struck his car until his neighbors told him to check.

"On Christmas, it's pretty bad," he said.

Angela Watson lives just a few houses down.

"A lot of our neighbors, they're coming out saying, 'Are your guys' tires cut?'" she said. "It's Christmas. And some people is on a very fixed income."

Sacramento County Sheriff's investigators say the calls are still coming in, so they aren't sure how many victims there are.

But neighbors say they've counted dozens—at least 60 cars—all within one block of each other.

The neighbors have a nickname for the person who did this—The Grinch. But they say they aren't letting him steal their Christmas spirit.

Despite the Christmas crime, Chao says he's focused on what's really important.

"I think everybody's happy it's just the tires," he said. "This is replaceable. That's not replaceable," he said, referring to his family.
