Folsom Lake Water Level Drops To Near-Record Low

FOLSOM (CBS13) - Drought concerns are on the rise as Folsom Lake continues to drop to near-record lows.

Officials say water levels at the lake haven't been this low since the late 1970's. The lake is below 20 percent of capacity. At this time in 2012, it was at 80 percent of capacity.

With no rain in sight, water officials have set their sights on strict new watering guidelines.

"Our board will be considering a plan for implementing significant rationing if we don't get rain," said one official.

The city of Folsom has issued a mandatory order for its residents to conserve water.
