Police: Man Accused Of Taking Pictures Of Kids Also Had Child Porn

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — A Fairfield man accused of taking pictures of young children in his neighborhood has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Tots and bicycles line the front yards of Dana Drive. Parents usually let youngsters play at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Parents say three young girls, ages 10, 7, and 2, were playing outside on Monday when the oldest noticed something wasn't right.

"My daughter did say he had taken a picture, and there's reason to believe there's more to it," said Sarah Bayles.

Neighbors told officers a man on the block was snapping pictures of the girls.

Police would arrest Eric Schroeder, a 53-year-old man who lives on the same block.

"If he was that brave, God only knows what he does in the dark," said Brenda Steed.

As if that incident wasn't already disturbing for parents, during the search of Schroeder's home, investigators say they discovered hundreds of child porn pictures.

Shortly after his arrest, the suspect bailed out of jail. He faces felony charges. No one at his home would answer questions.

Neighbors say the ordeal has rattled their sense of security.

"You just don't know who your neighbors are," Steed said.
