The Final Lap
As I approach the final lap (trimester) of pregnancy, I feel great! Baby girl is about 15 inches long, 2 ½ pounds and is the size of a cucumber, according to What to Expect. She has doubled in weight from 4 weeks ago!
I feel baby girl moving and shaking in my belly all the time now. It’s so much fun feeling her in there! Her kicks and jabs are only getting stronger. I purchased a fetal doppler monitor so I can also hear her heartbeat. It’s music to my ears.
If you can’t tell by my expanding body and large chipmunk cheeks, I have already gained 23 pounds! Unfortunately, that’s how much weight I was hoping to gain throughout my entire pregnancy. My doctor recommended I gain anywhere between 25-35 pounds by my due date. I’m pretty sure I’m going to go over that 35 pound mark. Eek!
With a little more than 12 weeks left, I have stopped purchasing maternity clothes. I’m trying to make use of what is left of my wardrobe. I’m not going to lie, it’s been tough! I find myself gravitating to the color black a lot.
I haven’t been getting much sleep because of hip and leg pain. Having to use the restroom several times each night doesn’t help either. I miss sleeping on my back and belly!
But what I miss most is my pre-pregnancy body. I was looking at older pictures yesterday. I didn’t realize how tiny I was!
These pictures are my motivation to continue exercising during my pregnancy. I’m hopeful I will be able to bounce back.
I’m really looking forward to our 3D ultrasound in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see her little face! I’m also excited for the baby showers coming up. Mark and I are so fortunate to have so many loved ones supporting us throughout this amazing journey.
I hope you’re having a fantastic week!
