Man Accused Of Biting Officer's Hand
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police say they had a tough time controlling a suspect who allegedly attacked two officers late Friday morning.
The first encounter with the man happened near 9th and L Streets around 11:30 a.m., according to a release from the Sacramento Police Department. Officers out on patrol tried to stop a man, 64-year-old Rolf Staib, for an alleged traffic violation.
Staib reportedly tried to take off, but an officer held him down. It was then that Staib is said to have bitten down on the officer's hand. A struggle ensued and only ended when more officers showed up and helped get Staib under control.
Both Staib and the officer were taken to the hospital, but police say Staib wasn't done with attacking officers. At the hospital, police say that they had to use a stun gun on Staib when he become combative and attacked another officer.
The officer in the first incident has been treated for injuries to his hand.
Staib was eventually booked at Sacramento County Jail on two counts of battery to a police officer, along with a resisting arrest charge.
